Member Tags, Disable Sharing, Telegram Login and more

Telegram introduces member tags — text labels next to names — for group members; a setting to disable saving and forwarding in private chats; the ability to edit GIF animations and add captions; new tools for signing up and logging into apps and websites with Telegram — and more.

Member Tags in Groups

Group chat members can now add a tag next to their name. This could be a position or role in a work team, a specialty at a university — and much more. For example, show your apartment or car in a neighbor chat, or indicate your interests in an online community.

No-Forwarding in Private Chats

In 2021, Telegram added content protection settings for groups and channels, helping communities and creators maintain the exclusivity of their posts.

Starting with today’s update, users can also disable the ability to share content from any private chat to create an atmosphere of mutual trust. When copying is disabled in a chat, the other person cannot forward or copy messages, take screenshots or save media.

GIF Captions

When selecting an animation from the GIF panel, you can now directly add a caption — and send everything as one message. Like other media files, the caption can be placed above or below the GIF — so your memes are perfectly formatted.

Telegram Login

You can now quickly sign up or log in to an app or website using your Telegram account — without filling out forms or creating passwords.

To avoid extra verification steps, you can share your phone number with the site or bot. You can also allow the service to message you on Telegram to receive notifications directly in the app.
